Upcoming activity
As construction moves forward, a number of transport management measures will be required to ensure works can be carried out safely. We will keep this page updated with the latest information related to the project and thank the community for their patience.

Footpath Closures
From 29 January 2026
Stewartby Footpaths 1 and 2 closed.
From 1 April 2026
Stewartby Footpath A1 and Elstow Footpath 8 closed.
Traffic Management
Ampthill Road
6 – 10 July 2026
Network Rail will ​have temporary two-way traffic ​lights in place for ​15-minute periods ​when required ​to ​facilitate ​plant and ​machinery delivery for ​some preliminary works around Wixams station.
Other traffic management measures ​including ​speed ​reduction and ​site ​access ​signs will ​be in place until ​the ​works conclude.
Broadmead Road
11 May – 17 July 2026
The ​road will ​be closed while improvement works ​are carried out.
Broadmead Road and Woburn Road
16 - ​17 July
As ​part of our ongoing ​improvement works, there will ​be two-way temporary ​traffic lights in place ​at the Woburn ​Road/Broadmead Road junction from ​9:30am - ​3:30pm.
From 17 July 2026
To coincide ​with the reopening of Broadmead Road on ​17 July, the three-way traffic lights installed at the Woburn ​Road/Broadmead Road junction will be switched on.
Please note: from Monday 20 – Friday 24 July, between 9:30am and ​4pm, there will be additional ​temporary traffic lights in place at or in the vicinity of the Broadmead Road / Woburn Road ​junction.
Manor Road
27 ​April ​– 26 July 2026
Improvement works will ​be taking place, with ​temporary traffic management in ​operation.
27 July – 5 October ​2026
There will be a ​24-hour closure of Manor Road ​for through traffic as part of our ​ongoing site stabilisation and enabling works.
Please ​note, further traffic management ​on Manor Road will ​be required after this date and ​more information will ​be shared ​in due course once details ​have been confirmed.
